Deputies say one person was arrested on two charges after an incident over the weekend in Ontario County.

Ronald James Cassidy, 54, of Newark, was arrested early Saturday morning for driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance. The incident occurred around 12:18 a.m. at the intersection of East Lake Road and County Line in the Town of Richmond.

Authorities were initially called to investigate a suspicious vehicle, which was identified as a U-Haul truck. Upon inspection, Cassidy was found to be impaired and driving the vehicle under the influence of drugs. A subsequent search revealed Cassidy was in possession of a white powdered substance, later confirmed to be Fentanyl.

Cassidy has been issued an appearance ticket along with traffic tickets related to the charges. He is scheduled to appear in Richmond Town Court at a later date to respond to the allegations.
