The New York Mets (19-20) were two outs away from getting swept by the Atlanta Braves (24-13) at home, but Brandon Nimmo played hero as he crushed a walk-off two-run home run to give the Mets a 4-3 victory.

New York fell behind in the top of the eighth inning on Marcell Ozuna’s run-scoring single off Adam Ottavino before rallying in the ninth.

Pete Alonso drove in the first two runs for the Mets with an RBI single and double, which tied the game twice.

Luis Severino tossed five innings of two-run ball. Reed Garrett, Jake Diekman, and Edwin Díaz had scoreless outings.

Box Score

The Mets will continue their homestand on Monday at 7:10 p.m. when they take on the Philadelphia Phillies.
