A tense standoff on South Seward Avenue ended without injury after approximately six hours on Friday, with the individual involved surrendering to Auburn police around 11:45 p.m. The standoff began around 6:30 p.m., prompting local authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order for the nearby areas.

During the standoff, police actions escalated around 10 p.m. as officers broke windows and deployed what appeared to be tear gas into the house in an effort to bring the situation to a close. The Auburn Police Department managed the situation with the help of over a dozen officers, as well as support from the Auburn Fire Department, Auburn City Ambulance, and NYSEG.

The individual who had barricaded themselves inside the house eventually came out and surrendered to police. No injuries were reported among police or civilians.
