Deputies say a Canandaigua man was taken into custody after a traffic stop and the operators refusal to pull over.

Nicholas C. Zufelt, a 30-year-old resident of Canandaigua, was arrested on Thursday for driving while intoxicated, according to a news release. The arrest followed a traffic stop on State Route 332 initiated by deputies after Zufelt was spotted speeding.

Despite attempts by law enforcement to pull him over, Zufelt continued to drive recklessly southbound on North Main Street in the City of Canandaigua before eventually stopping. Upon evaluation, he exhibited clear signs of intoxication and was found to have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.16%, twice the legal limit.

Zufelt was issued multiple traffic tickets for DWI, including charges for driving with a BAC of .08% or higher, speeding in a zone, and failing to comply with a police order. He is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to face these charges.
