The Yates County Sheriff’s Office says one man is in custody after a car crashed into a retaining wall in the town of Jerusalem during the early-morning hours on Monday.

Around 6:09 a.m deputies alongside Branchport Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance, and Yates EMS, responded to a single-vehicle crash on Skyline Drive in the Town of Jerusalem. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Christopher A. Rolfe, 36, of Sodus inside his Chevy Silverado, which had veered off the road and collided with a block retaining wall.

Investigations indicated that Rolfe was traveling south on Skyline Drive when his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and off the road, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle and a retaining wall. Rolfe suffered facial injuries in the crash and was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for treatment.

Following his release from the hospital, Rolfe was charged with DWI under common law, failure to keep right, unsafe tires, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, attempted criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was taken to Yates County Jail to await arraignment.
