The New York Mets (18-18) used a six-run fifth inning to claim a 7-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals (15-21) at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night.
Brandon Nimmo hit a game-tying three-run shot, Pete Alonso homered and smoked a two-run double, and J.D. Martinez added a run-scoring single.
José Buttó tossed five innings of three-run ball while walking three and striking out three. Cole Sulser and Adam Ottavino gave up the other runs.
The Mets will try to complete the three-game sweep on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. Jose Quintana will take the ball for New York.
