Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital (SSMH) and Geneva General Hospital (GGH) have been recognized for having the fastest emergency department times in the Finger Lakes region, as announced by UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health on April 24, 2024. A recent assessment ranked SSMH first and GGH second among regional hospitals for emergency department (ED) efficiency.
The evaluation, conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), analyzed data from April 2021 to March 2022, comparing the median time from arrival to discharge across all 147 New York emergency departments. SSMH topped the list in the small hospital category for facilities with fewer than 40 beds, while GGH led among hospitals with over 40 beds in the Western NY-Rochester region.
Dr. Matthew Talbott, Vice President of Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer at UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health, expressed pride in the achievement, attributing it to the hard work and dedication of the staff. Both hospitals continue to prioritize rapid and high-quality emergency care, ensuring efficient and effective treatment for their community.
