Finger Lakes Cider Trail kicks off passport program

  • Staff Report

The Finger Lakes Cider Trail introduced its Passport Program in May 2024, inviting cider enthusiasts to explore and taste offerings from nine participating cideries throughout May and June. This program, now in its second year, aims to showcase the diverse styles of cider crafted with New York fruit, celebrating both established cider makers from the original Finger Lakes Cider Week in 2012 and newer establishments.

Participants who complete tastings at each cidery on the trail, which includes locations from Trumansburg to Ithaca, are eligible to win a case of Finger Lakes cider. The trail features renowned cideries such as Bellwether Hard Cider, Finger Lakes Cider House, and South Hill Cider, highlighting the rich apple-growing heritage of the region.

The Passport Program not only offers a unique tasting journey but also emphasizes the Finger Lakes’ distinct cider qualities, derived from the area’s excellent growing conditions and the expertise of local orchard keepers. For more details on the program and cider tasting opportunities, enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the website.
