Early Saturday morning, a single-car crash involving a drunk driver prompted a hefty response from first responders on Norris Road in Himrod. At around 1:35 a.m., Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle crash where the car had landed on the Norfolk Southern train tracks.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Justin P. Bauter from Avoca was unable to successfully navigate a curve leading to the accident. Upon arrival, deputies noted Bauter exhibited signs of alcohol consumption and conducted field sobriety tests.
Bauter was arrested and charged with DWI offenses including driving with a BAC over 0.08% and other related traffic violations. He was taken to the Yates County Public Safety Building for further testing and later released with a summons to appear in the Town of Milo Court at a future date.
