The Auburn Enlarged City School District has presented a proposed budget for the 2024-25 academic year, which includes a tax levy increase and funding for several new staff positions.

Tessa Crawford, the district’s business executive, detailed the budget during a board of education meeting on April 17, leading to its adoption by the board.

Set at $104,404,172, the budget reflects a 4.1% increase from the current year’s $100,268,805. It proposes a 1.99% tax levy increase, which stays below the district’s tax cap of 2.86%.

This increase matches the rate proposed to voters last year. Public voting on this budget and school board candidates will take place on Tuesday, May 21.

The budget plans include using approximately $1.3 million to hire new staff, including 10 teacher aides, two teacher assistants, and one special education teacher.
