Authorities gave an update on a crash that happened Thursday at the intersection of State Route 14A and Horizon Park Drive in the town of Milo involving two elderly drivers. Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene around 10:34 a.m. after Kenneth Colegrove, 80, of Macdougall, collided with a parked vehicle belonging to Alma Decker, 85, of Dundee.
Investigations revealed that Colegrove was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer on the right, which was preparing to turn left onto Horizon Park Drive. During the maneuver, he rear-ended Decker’s car, which was parked on the shoulder. Decker reported shoulder pain following the incident but declined medical treatment at the scene.
Colegrove received citations for passing on the right and following too closely. Both vehicles involved were towed away, highlighting the dangers of unsafe passing and the importance of maintaining a safe following distance.
