Friends of the Outlet will mark their 40th anniversary with the opening of the new Hopeton Campground during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday.
The event, from noon to 2 p.m. at 1025 Hopeton Road, celebrates the completion of the campground, which offers three tent platforms and a lean-to, set in a wooded area overlooking the Keuka Outlet Trail.
The development of this primitive campground, situated just east of the Hopeton parking area and trail access, is the result of nearly 20 years of planning and hundreds of hours of volunteer effort, supported by a Yates County TAC grant.
The ceremony will feature the first campers, local scouts from Troop #444, who will contribute to the event with outdoor demonstrations.
