Mother’s Day event coming to Three Bears in Ovid with more than just plants

The Friends of the Three Bears will hold their annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale on May 11 at the historic courthouse complex in Ovid. The event features a variety of plants including perennials, annuals, fruit trees, and house plants, with all proceeds going towards the preservation of the three-building courthouse property at 7175 Main Street.

Local officials, including Seneca County Manager Kyle Lovell and Ovid Supervisor Joe Borst, will be present to discuss ongoing and future restoration efforts. They will highlight recent achievements such as the installation of an elevator in the Papa Bear building and outline plans for 2024 focusing on the cupola and bell tower renovations.

In addition to the plant sale, the Friends are organizing a bake sale with home-cooked treats from Ovid’s finest bakers. A new addition this year is a Cookie Contest, where attendees can purchase cookies, vote for their favorite, and win prizes. The day will conclude with a free performance by the a cappella group, So Noted, in the newly restored 1845 courtroom.
