The Ontario County Board of Supervisors has unanimously declared May 2024 as Fair Housing Month, following a resolution passed on Wednesday. The resolution, proposed by Supervisor David Phillips and seconded by Supervisor Mark Venuti, aims to promote equal housing opportunities and combat discrimination in the housing sector.

The announcement reaffirms the county’s commitment to the Fair Housing Plan adopted in 2020, which emphasizes the elimination of discriminatory practices in housing sales and rentals. According to the plan, continuous public education and accessible resources are crucial for ensuring fair housing practices across the county.

Residents who believe they have faced housing discrimination based on factors such as age, race, or disability can seek assistance through the Ontario County Director of Planning. The county will also enhance public awareness by displaying fair housing information on its website and distributing educational posters throughout the community.
