The Powerball jackpot has escalated to an estimated $178 million as no participants matched all six numbers in the most recent drawing on April 29. The $164 million jackpot went unclaimed, prompting the prize to increase. The drawn numbers were 11, 38, 47, 67, 69 with Powerball number 14 and a Power Play multiplier of 2x.
This increase comes after the jackpot reset following a $1.3 billion win by a player in Oregon on April 6, marking one of the largest in the game’s history. Prior to that, significant wins included an $842.2 million jackpot in Michigan on January 1 and a $1.73 billion prize in California on October 11.
Powerball’s odds remain steep at 1 in 292.2 million, a commonality with other large lottery games such as Mega Millions, which has seen multiple billion-dollar jackpots as well. The next Powerball drawing is set to continue the cycle of growing jackpots until a winner claims the top prize.
