Alex Verdugo won’t be in the New York Yankees lineup Monday night when they open a big four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles.
The team announced Monday that the outfielder was placed on the paternity list and Carlos Narváez was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Verdugo has been one of the team’s hottest hitters. He went 5-for-15 with two home runs and five RBI during the Yankees’ last series in Milwaukee. Over 29 games this season, Verdugo is hitting .267 with a .804 OPS, four home runs, and 13 RBI.
Narváez is batting .211 with a .718 OPS, two home runs, and 12 RBI with Scranton this season.
