  • Staff Report

The North Rose-Wolcott Central School District held a ceremony on April 13 at North Rose-Wolcott High School to induct five distinguished individuals into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame, established to honor notable athletes, coaches, and supporters, acknowledged contributions to district athletics and aimed to inspire current student athletes by highlighting positive role models from the Cougar Athletics tradition.

This year’s inductees included Zakk Hess from the Class of 2011, who excelled in soccer and track and field, contributing to his team’s county championship win. Terry Moss, Class of 1994, and David Urban, Class of 1999, were recognized for their achievements in soccer and swimming, respectively. Both have continued to engage in sports, contributing to their communities and professions.

Also honored were Gerald Decausemaker and James Prentice, both of whom significantly impacted the NRW wrestling program as coaches. Decausemaker, a former standout wrestler and coach, has been influential in youth wrestling programs, while Prentice has led numerous wrestlers to state tournaments, earning multiple coaching accolades during his tenure. These inductions serve to commemorate the lasting impact of these individuals on the sports culture at North Rose-Wolcott.
