St. Louis (13-15) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 11th, and New York (14-13) was down to its final out and strike in the bottom of the inning, but Harrison Bader tied the game with an RBI single before Vientos delivered the game-winner in his second game back with the Mets.
Francisco Lindor crushed a game-tying home run in the sixth, his fifth of the season.
Jose Quintana tossed eight innings of one-run ball while allowing just three hits and one walk. Edwin Díaz fired a scoreless inning before Reed Garrett pitched the final two, improving to 5-0 on the season.
The Mets will continue their homestand on Monday when they take on the Chicago Cubs in the first game of a three-game series. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
