Gabriel Fortier scores in OT for Crunch to even playoff series with Amerks

Gabriel Fortier deflected a shot with 10:56 into overtime that found the back of the net to give the Syracuse Crunch a 4-3 victory over the Rochester Americans in Game 2 of their North Division semifinal series on Sunday afternoon at the Blue Cross Arena.

Syracuse evened the best-of-five series at a game apiece with the win.

The Crunch erased a 2-0 deficit for the second straight game and took the lead with 10:57 left in the contest, but the Amerks tied the game with 3:54 remaining.

Jordy Bellerive, Sean Day, and Gage Goncalves had the other goals for Syracuse. Mason Jobst, Michael Mersch, and Linus Weissbach tallied goals for Rochester.


Devon Levi stopped 30 shots for the home team, while Brandon Halverson turned aside 24 for the visitors.

The series shifts to the Upstate Medical University Arena for Game 3 on Thursday at 7 p.m.
