Waterloo duo accused of assaulting child during corporal punishment

Waterloo police arrested a local duo after an investigation into excessive corporal punishment to a juvenile.

Paul Waltz, 33, and Casey Powless, 35, both of Waterloo were arrested on an array of charges earlier this week.

It’s alleged that Powless assisted Waltz in the punishment by restraining the juvenile during the incident. However, details of the incident were not released.


The charges against Waltz include assault, conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges against Powless include conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.

Both were transported to the Seneca County jail for arraignment and an order of protection was requested for the victim.

The Waterloo Police Department was assisted by Seneca County Child Protective Services and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
