Deputies give update on vehicle fire at mall: Flames started after major oil leak

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the vehicle fire that destroyed an SUV at the Finger Lakes Premium Outlets earlier this week.

According to a news release, deputies observed a completely burned out vehicle, which was put out by the Junius Fire Department.

The vehicle was deemed to be a total loss and valued around $40,000. According to the sheriff’s office there were no injuries reported and the vehicle was fully insured.

The sheriff’s office noted that reports on scene indicated that the fire started from a major oil leak in the engine area.
