State Senator Pam Helming recently hosted her annual Youth Leadership Recognition Program, celebrating 24 students from 22 districts for their exceptional contributions in academics, leadership, and community service. The event highlighted the diverse talents of local high school students in areas such as agricultural education, entrepreneurship, and peer leadership.

During interactions with various student groups, including a fifth-grade class from Red Jacket and university students from Roberts Wesleyan and SUNY Geneseo, Senator Helming praised the students’ deep engagement with civic issues and their desire to effect positive change. She noted their insightful inquiries and the richness of their discussions on state government and public service.

The senator shared stories of remarkable individuals among the awardees, including Baylei Reed’s advocacy for agriculture, Cameran MacArthur’s entrepreneurial spirit, Jenna North’s perseverance in sports, and Abigail Provo’s judicial leadership. These anecdotes underscored the senator’s belief in the vital role of youth as the cornerstone for future societal improvement.
