New York encourages sustainability during Earth Week

The New York Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection, in collaboration with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, has issued guidelines for sustainable living in celebration of Earth Week. They provided strategies on reducing, reusing, recycling, and repairing items to assist New Yorkers in making environmentally friendly choices during their spring cleaning. The initiatives aim to help consumers save money while positively impacting the environment.

Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez emphasized the importance of engaging in practices that protect the environment, especially during the spring cleaning season. He encouraged New Yorkers to adopt simple and creative methods to reduce waste and reuse items, aligning with the state’s goals for sustainability and conservation.

The Division of Consumer Protection and the DEC highlighted the critical role of proper recycling practices in maintaining community cleanliness and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They reminded residents that recycling helps conserve natural resources and manage waste effectively, contributing to a more sustainable future for the state.
