Police arrested a Canandaigua man on two felony charges after a traffic stop in the city.

According to a news release, Sean Rankin, 57, of Canandaigua was arrested for aggravated family offense and first-degree criminal contempt.

Police said both charges are felony counts and followed a traffic stop on Eastern Boulevard.

He was found to be the passenger of a vehicle that was being operated by the person protected by an active court order.

Rankin was arrested in October 2023 for violating a court order and fighting with police during that incident, which unfolded at the victim’s residence.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
