Yankees shut out in extra-inning loss to Rays

The New York Yankees offense was nowhere to be found in a 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

New York (14-7) managed just four hits, two coming from Juan Soto, who singled and doubled. Anthony Rizzo and Alex Verdugo had the other hits, while Austin Wells had the only walk.

Nestor Cortes tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out nine. Luke Weaver and Clay Holmes posted scoreless outings, but Caleb Ferguson allowed the only runs in the 10th on an RBI double and single.

The Yankees will try to bounce back and win the series on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. Luis Gil will take the ball for New York.
