New York State Police are investigating a deadly two-car collision that occurred on State Route 14 in the town of Starkey on Wednesday. The crash involved a southbound 2017 Chevy Equinox and a northbound 2010 GMC Sierra, resulting in a head-on impact around 4:06 p.m.
The driver of the Chevy, a 34-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 22-year-old female driver of the GMC was airlifted to Strong Hospital with injuries by Mercy Flight. Her current condition has not been disclosed.
Multiple agencies, including the Collision Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, and sheriff’s offices from Yates, Schuyler, and Tompkins counties, assisted at the scene alongside the New York State Department of Transportation and the Dundee Fire Department.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the cause of the collision.
