Seneca Meadows will celebrate its 21st annual Mulch Day Giveaway on May 11, where local residents are invited to receive free mulch while helping out with a charitable cause. The event, scheduled from 7 to 11 a.m. at 1786 Salcman Road in Waterloo, offers Seneca County residents two scoops of mulch per household on a first-come, first-served basis. The mulch, available in black and natural brown, was sourced from a local business, with Seneca Meadows workers assisting in loading vehicles.

Adding a festive twist, the event will also include a “Christmas in May” theme, continuing a partnership with Waterloo High School Honor Society students. The initiative supports the Seneca County Community Christmas Project by collecting toys for children. Participants are encouraged, though not required, to donate a new, unopened toy.

Kyle Black, District Manager for Seneca Meadows, expressed enthusiasm about the community’s involvement. “As we undertake Spring beautification, we look forward to connecting with our neighbors and supporting our local children this Christmas,” he said, praising the generosity of the community in contributing to the toy drive.
