Avon Police Chief Joseph Geer, who was suspended without pay on March 20 amidst investigations by the FBI and the State Comptroller’s Office, will soon return to paid leave.

Avon Mayor Rob Hayes tells RochesterFirst.com that according to civil service regulations and legal advice, Geer can only be suspended without pay for a maximum of 30 days.

The investigations involve allegations related to bookkeeping and scheduling issues discovered by the former village mayor.

Additionally, the FBI is examining claims of false service charges by a provider at the Avon Central School District, where Geer previously served as a school resource officer. He has since been relieved of this role.
