A rainout forced the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians to play two games on Saturday, and the Yankees came away with two victories, winning the first one 3-2 before taking the nightcap 8-2.

In Game 1, New York (12-3) scored the first three runs and held on late as Clay Holmes notched his sixth save of the season. Oswaldo Cabrera hit a two-run homer and Clarke Schmidt tossed five innings of two-run ball, one of which was earned.

In Game 2, the Yankees plated two quick first-inning runs and added four more in the fourth and two in the fifth to cruise to victory. Juan Soto crushed a three-run homer, while Anthony Volpe, Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, Cabrera, and Austin Wells tallied RBI.

Cody Poteet, making his Yankee debut and first Major League appearance since July 16, 2022, allowed just one run over six innings. Dennis Santana fired two scoreless before Ron Marinaccio gave up a solo shot in the ninth in his season debut.
