The New York Mets cruised past the Atlanta Braves, 16-4, at Truist Park on Thursday afternoon to secure a series win.
New York (5-7) recorded a season-high 16 hits, and everyone in the starting lineup had at least a hit.
Tyrone Taylor smacked a pinch-hit grand slam off position player Luis Guillorme. DJ Stewart homered for the second time in three games after starting the season 0-for-12. Jeff McNeil tallied two hits and three RBI, while Francisco Alvarez and Brandon Nimmo each drove in two. Brett Batt also chipped in an RBI as he stayed hot at the plate.
Jose Quintana allowed three runs in 5.1 innings. Drew Smith recorded five outs, and Tyler Jay made his Major League debut, surrendering a run over two frames.
The Mets will head home to begin a three-game series with the red-hot Royals (9-4) on Friday at 7:10 p.m.
