The Syracuse men’s basketball program is set to hire Dan Engelstad to fill its assistant coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Engelstad, who was a head coach at Mount St. Mary’s for six seasons, replaces Gerry McNamara, who left to become the head coach at Siena last week.

Engelstad was 72-109 as head coach at Mount St. Mary’s and led the Mountaineers to the 2021 NEC Tournament Championship.

He also spent five seasons as the head coach at Southern Vermont, where he compiled a 103-34 record.
