The New York Mets held a late one-run lead, but an eighth-inning meltdown allowed the Cincinnati Reds to even the series with a 9-6 victory at Great American Ball Park on Saturday evening.

New York (2-6) led 5-4 after seven innings, but sloppy defense and a poor outing from Yohan Ramírez allowed Cincinnati (5-3) to plate five runs in the eighth, take a 9-5 lead, and secure the win.

Omar Narváez went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Brett Baty and Tyrone Taylor also drove in runs.

Luis Severino gave up two runs (one earned) over five innings in his second start as a Met.

Box Score

The Mets will try to bounce back and win the series on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. Sean Manaea will take the mound.
