Wayne County road closures announced for Monday’s eclipse: See the list here

  • Staff Report

Officials in Wayne County are providing more details on the limited state of emergency that will be in effect during Monday’s total solar eclipse.

An estimated 50,000 additional people will be traveling to Wayne County for the eclipse, which has prompted county officials to develop a plan that includes some temporary road closures.

“County Law Enforcement has developed a plan that will require changing traffic patterns to accommodate the large influx and mass exodus of people. Law enforcement, as well as other county officials, will be monitoring the situation and making traffic adjustments as needed,” officials said in a press release late-Friday. “There will be limited activation of the county Emergency Operations Center to continually monitor the situation. There are many events scheduled, we want to do everything possible to ensure our residents and visitors are safe. We know there are limited access to roads, and traffic may be a problem. We are attempting to minimize congestion and take all necessary actions before the event starts.”

Here’s a breakdown of road closures in Wayne County for Monday’s eclipse:
