Schuyler County residents have a new defense against property and mortgage fraud, thanks to a proactive measure introduced by officials in the clerk’s office.

On Tuesday, April 2, they revealed the county’s collaboration with Cott Systems to provide a service designed to alert residents of any official documents recorded against their property, aiming to tackle the growing issue of property fraud.

Cott Systems’ PropertyCheck service operates around the clock, notifying residents whenever documents related to their property are filed. This initiative allows individuals to monitor their property records closely by registering on the RECORDhub website, thus offering a significant stride towards safeguarding their assets from fraudulent activities.

This free service requires residents to opt-in, creating an account where they can set alerts for their property using names, addresses, or parcel numbers.
