Yankees shut out by Diamondbacks in first loss of season

The New York Yankees opened the season with five straight wins for the first time in 32 years, but that streak was snapped on Tuesday night as they fell 7-0 to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

New York managed just three hits, and only one runner reached second base. Juan Soto, Anthony Volpe, and Oswaldo Cabrera had the hits.

Nestor Cortes struggled in the first inning again, allowing three runs, but settled in and followed that up with four scoreless. Jake Cousins gave up a three-run home run in the seventh in his Yankee debut.

Box Score

The Yankees will try to bounce back and win the series on Wednesday with Carlos Rodón on the mound. The first pitch is set for 3:40 p.m.
