Sabres pull away from Capitals with big third period

The Buffalo Sabres got back in the win column on Tuesday night with a 6-2 victory over the Washington Capitals at KeyBank Center.

Buffalo (36-35-5) led 3-2 after 40 minutes but scored three times in the first six minutes of the third period to pull away for the win.

JJ Peterka tallied two goals and an assist to lead eight different skaters with a point. Tage Thompson (1+2), Alex Tuch (1+2), and Rasmus Dahlin (1+2) joined Peterka with three-point nights. Zemgus Girgensons also scored, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 22 saves.

The Sabres will wrap up a five-game homestand on Friday when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at 7 p.m.
