Don Alhart, the face of 13WHAM News for nearly six decades, announced he will retire on June 6, marking the 58th anniversary of his illustrious career at the station. Starting as a summer news reporter in 1965 and then joining full-time in 1966, Alhart became a beloved figure in the Rochester community, anchoring the top-rated local news broadcast and earning a spot in the Guinness World Records for his unparalleled tenure in television news.


Throughout his career, Alhart has been recognized for his journalistic excellence, receiving five Edward R. Murrow Awards and an induction into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Beyond his professional achievements, Alhart has significantly contributed to the community through various volunteer efforts, embodying a dedication to service and quality in every aspect of his life.
