Girl Scout cookie season extended thanks to poor weather last weekend

Due to last weekend’s unfavorable weather leading to the cancellation of numerous cookie booths, the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Council has announced an extension of the cookie sale season through April 21. Initially set to conclude this Sunday, the extension offers an additional 21 days for the public to purchase their favorite cookies, including Thin Mints®, Samoas®, and more, at $6 per package. This extension aids local Girl Scouts in achieving their program goals while providing customers with delicious treats.

In response to the extension, special cookie booth locations will be available at high-profile events throughout April, such as the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship, and the International Taste Fest. Additionally, cookies are available at Sangertown Square Mall and Southside Mall until April 21. For those unable to visit these locations, the Cookie Finder tool on can be used to find nearby booths.

The proceeds from cookie sales support the local Girl Scouts, funding various activities like camp, community service, and travel, enhancing their leadership skills and community involvement. The public also has the option to donate cookies to community partners through the Sweet Support Gift of Caring project, benefiting food banks in Central New York and the Southern Tier. This initiative underscores the importance of supporting local Girl Scouts in their efforts to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.
