The Cayuga County Office for the Aging has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting family caregivers by offering the “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” program. Scheduled to start on April 19, 2024, this educational series is designed to empower caregivers with essential skills for managing their well-being while caring for others. The program focuses on reducing stress, enhancing communication, and finding a balance in life, among other skills.

Held at the Boyle Center in Auburn, the program will run for six weeks with classes led by experienced instructors. Through interactive lessons and discussions, participants will learn to apply various “tools” to improve their caregiving experience. The course is free, and attendees will receive a copy of “The Caregiver’s Helpbook” as a resource.

Space for the program is limited, requiring pre-registration, and is exclusively available to informal caregivers. Those interested in joining are encouraged to contact Danielle Schneider, Caregiver Coordinator, for more details and to secure a spot in this valuable class series.
