In the Town of Barton, a devastating incident occurred on the afternoon of March 26 when a four-year-old girl was fatally hit by a car. New York State Police reported that the accident happened around 5 p.m., involving a young child who had entered the road while riding her tricycle.
The preliminary findings from the State Police indicate that the child ventured from her driveway into the street, directly into the path of a vehicle driven by a 77-year-old woman. Despite the driver’s efforts, she was unable to avoid striking the young girl.
This heartbreaking event resulted in the loss of the child’s life at the scene. State Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.
