A terrific season came to an end for the Syracuse women’s basketball team on Monday night as they fell 72-64 to UConn in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Orange trailed by 11 at halftime but did not go away quietly. Syracuse outscored the Huskies 36-33 in the second half and even cut the deficit to three with 50 seconds remaining in regulation, but UConn followed that with a 5-0 run to pull away and advance to the program’s 30th-straight Sweet 16.

Dyaisha Fair scored a team-high 20 points to end her historic college career. Sophie Burrows and Georgia Woolley also finished in double figures, pouring in 18 points apiece.

Box Score

Syracuse finished the season with a 24-8 record.
