The Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn is getting ready to open its doors to the “Made in NY 2024” exhibition on March 23, celebrating the vast talent across New York State. The exhibit, which runs through April 27, will feature a wide range of mediums, including paintings, sculptures, and photographs, reflecting a diversity of topics from societal observations to personal narratives. Jurors Bill Hastings and Juan Perdiguero curated a selection of 70 artworks from the numerous submissions by state artists, demonstrating the richness of New York’s artistic landscape.

The event will kick off with a free opening reception, during which prize winners will be announced, engaging the community in a festive celebration of artistic achievement. Among the works are Caitlin Marx’s “Behind Every Great Man,” representing women’s overlooked professional successes, and Joy Adams’ “Forty Days,” exploring cultural differences and the inevitability of change. Each piece in the exhibit offers a unique perspective, contributing to a dialogue on various contemporary issues and personal experiences.

The “Made in NY 2024” exhibition not only highlights the creative excellence within the state but also underscores the importance of art as a medium for conversation and reflection.
