Rochester man sentenced for Schuyler County police chase

  • Staff Report

Jason B. Boswell, a 41-year-old from Rochester, was sentenced to a total of five years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision. This sentencing on March 14 came after Boswell pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class C felony, related to a high-speed police chase in Schuyler County in September.

The chase occurred when Boswell refused to stop his vehicle for a traffic check by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, leading to the deployment of spike strips to halt his escape. Following his arrest, authorities discovered a loaded handgun in his vehicle, which he was unlawfully carrying.

This case was prosecuted by Schuyler County’s Chief Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Hourihan, marking a significant legal conclusion to an incident that posed serious risks to public safety.
