Odessa-Montour HS welcomes new principal

The Odessa-Montour Central School District has announced Kelsey Pinette as the new principal of its Junior/Senior High School, starting from June 1. With an impressive educational background that includes a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, a master’s in music from Pennsylvania State University, and leadership certifications from the University of Rochester, Pinette brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role. Her previous positions in the Watkins Glen Central School District, where she has been instrumental in various educational and inclusivity initiatives since 2017, prepare her well for this next chapter in her career.

Pinette expressed excitement about her appointment and a commitment to learning and building on the school community’s existing values and initiatives. Her focus is set on fostering collaborative relationships and enhancing instructional practices to benefit all students. Her proactive approach and readiness to engage with the school community have been praised by Interim Superintendent Tracy Marchionda, highlighting Pinette’s alignment with the district’s mission to support every student, every day.

The transition comes as the current principal, Skip McCarty, prepares for retirement on July 1, ensuring a smooth handover. Pinette’s arrival marks a promising new phase for the Odessa-Montour Jr.-Sr. High School, with the community and administration expressing enthusiasm for the fresh perspectives and energy she is expected to bring to the school.
