UR Thompson Health appoints Taylor as stroke coordinator

UR Medicine Thompson Health has named Alice Taylor, a dedicated registered nurse with over a decade of experience at the health system, as its new Stroke/STEMI/Sepsis Coordinator. Taylor, who has served in various roles within Thompson Health, including labor and delivery and as a sexual assault nurse examiner, will now lead efforts to enhance care for patients suffering from stroke, sepsis, and STEMI, a severe type of heart attack. Her responsibilities will include overseeing improvement initiatives within Thompson’s Quality Department.

A Canandaigua native and St. John Fisher University alumna, Taylor’s extensive background in nursing and patient care positions her as a key player in advancing Thompson Health’s commitment to timely and effective patient treatment. Wendy Blakemore, Thompson Health Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Utilization Management, expressed enthusiasm for Taylor’s new role, highlighting her proactive approach to patient care and education.

Taylor’s appointment comes as Thompson Health continues to be recognized for its excellence in stroke care, having received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. Under Taylor’s leadership, Thompson Health aims to expand its Stroke Support Group regionally, further supporting stroke survivors and their families across UR Medicine affiliates.
