The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has received a significant boost with the donation of a 15-foot Brig Rigid inflatable vessel, enhancing its marine patrol capabilities. Seasonal residents Stephen Smeulders and Posy Seifert, who have a home on Canandaigua Lake, generously donated the vessel, which Sheriff David Cirencione announced will be instrumental for water-rescue incidents and accessing difficult-to-reach areas on Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes. The new addition to the marine fleet underscores the community’s support for law enforcement and safety initiatives.

In related good news, Communications Officer Jeffrey McGuigan was honored with the Geneva Kiwanis Club’s “Hometown Hero Award” for his exceptional service, showcasing the dedication of the sheriff’s office personnel to the community. Furthermore, the sheriff’s office demonstrated its commitment to public safety with the successful location of a missing autistic person by K-9 Addy and the interception of dangerous contraband at the county jail, preventing potential harm to inmates.

February was a busy month for the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, handling over 18,000 events, including emergency calls, arrests, and responding to drug overdoses and motor-vehicle crashes.
