Right to Run 5K set for July 6 in Seneca Falls

  • Staff Report

This year’s Right to Run 5K race is set to be held in Seneca Falls on Saturday, July 6.  This year’s races will include an in-person 5K as well as a virtual 5K and 19K option for those who are unable to join the in-person 5K.

Right to Run is excited to announce this year’s races ahead of International Women’s Day with their largest discount of year.  The organization is offering a 20% discount for runners who register with code “WOMENSDAY” at checkout—the deal runs from March 8-12.

This year’s events will be in memory of the organization’s late Founder and President, Menzo Case, who passed away last October.  Menzo started the race in 2015 as an ode to the Women’s Rights Movement in Seneca Falls and pays homage to the 19th Amendment – women’s right to vote.

The race will be facilitating a shoe drive, where runners can donate slightly worn athletic shoes during the event, which will later be donated to local organizations.  The in-person 5k participants will also receive a special keepsake for participating this year.

Right to Run helps raise money for local charities that support women such as Athena Award for Continuing Education (A.C.E.) Scholarship, CAP Women’s Transitional House, United Way of Seneca County Women’s Leadership Council, Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes, 1st Amendment, 1st Vote, and the Seneca Falls Women’s Walk of Fame—individual participants can also donate separately to their organization(s) of choice.

Participants who are interested in registering for the race can visit “Right to Run” on Facebook and follow the link to the online registration form or by visiting www.righttorun19k.org. The race is also seeking road marshals and volunteers to help with the event. Right to Run is a USTAF sanctioned 5K race and is presented by Generations Bank.  Any questions regarding registration, sponsorship, or volunteer help, can be sent to [email protected].
