  • Staff Report

The Montezuma Audubon Center will provide a unique experience for nature enthusiasts during the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8 with guided birding walks held every hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

These leisurely 1-mile walks through diverse habitats will offer insights into avian behavior changes during the eclipse, exploring whether birds like owls, songbirds, and waterfowl would exhibit unusual activities in response to the celestial event.

Participants will be led by an Audubon educator through forests, grasslands, and wetlands to observe and discuss bird responses to the eclipse. The walks will also highlight the center’s conservation efforts for various bird species. Children under 16 are welcomed when accompanied by an adult, ensuring a family-friendly outing.

The event required prior registration, with a participation fee of $10, including the provision of binoculars, field guides, and flashlights for an enhanced birdwatching experience.
