The Mary Porcari Brady Fund has contributed another $20,000 to the Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) Foundation, marking its third donation to assist nursing students with unexpected financial burdens. Since its inception in 2022, the fund has aided 26 students in managing costs such as tuition, textbooks, and living expenses, ensuring they can continue their education without interruption.

Denise Ferrell, a current student in the accelerated nursing program at FLCC, highlighted the fund’s significant impact on her academic journey. The financial support has alleviated the stress of balancing work and study, allowing her to focus on advancing from a licensed practical nurse to a registered nurse. The FLCC Foundation, in partnership with the Nursing Department, administers the fund to provide a safety net for students facing financial challenges.

The fund honors Mary Porcari Brady, a dedicated nurse who pursued her career passionately despite personal challenges. Her children established the fund in her memory to support future nurses, reflecting her lifelong commitment to the profession. The FLCC Foundation expressed deep gratitude for the Porcari family’s continued support, which also extends to students in the newly launched licensed practical nursing program.
