  • Staff Report

The Bath Volunteer Fire Department recently honored its members for their dedication and hard work at the annual awards banquet. The event was attended by local dignitaries, including the mayor of Bath, the village police chief, and area fire chiefs. Awards were handed out to recognize the firefighters and auxiliary members for their exceptional service, with special thanks extended to their supportive partners.

Preston Skillman was named Firefighter of the Year for his outstanding commitment to the department. Despite having no prior connections or experience in firefighting, Skillman quickly became an integral part of the team, maintaining a top position in both calls responded to and training hours attended, all while managing a full-time job and his new marriage. His willingness to support his fellow firefighters was particularly noted.

Tiffany Fiordo was awarded Firefly of the Year for her role as president of the fire department’s auxiliary, the Fireflies. Fiordo was celebrated for making meetings both fun and productive, organizing activities for families, and contributing significantly to department fundraisers. The banquet also recognized individuals for their service years, training hours, and call responses, highlighting the community’s collective effort and dedication to safety and support.
